Quick Maple Rolls

Quick Maple Rolls

Hello friends! I have a fun treat to share with you today. Maple/Cinnamon Rolls!

Jiffy Maple Rolls

I was going through some old cookbooks of my late grandmothers and found this folded up sheet of paper tucked inside. It brought tears to my eyes just to see her handwriting. I knew I needed to make this recipe immediately!
If you love cinnamon rolls as much as I do, you are going to love how delicious these are and how quickly they come together!

I loved that there were some measurements missing. Typical Grandma fashion :) "Just add about half a box" or "just a sprinkling of this." I also love that it's kind of a cheater cinnamon roll recipe. It uses a boxed white cake mix as part of the dough. And virtually no rising time. She always had super easy recipes.

You begin by mixing half a box of white cake mix with flour, yeast, salt and sugar in a large bowl.

Then you add warm water, maple flavoring and more flour to make a soft dough.

Knead until smooth and not too sticky.

Spread that butter (or margarine in my case) all over the rolled out dough. I have to agree with Grandma on this one. Measurements aren't necessary. Just grab that tub of butter and spread it until it looks good!

Now the fun part! Sprinkle all of that delicious brown sugar and cinnamon over the top. Don't skimp here! If you're going to eat a cinnamon roll, might as well go all in!

I definitely needed more flour. It felt fine when I was kneading it, but when I rolled it out it was a sticky mess. But I made it work.

Slice 'em up and put them in your prepared pan.

All ready to go into the oven!

Quick Maple Rolls

Lather these beauties up with maple frosting while they're still hot.

And dig in! These were a hit at my house. All the kids were begging for seconds. Not quite as good as my original cinnamon recipe, but still amazing! Especially when this recipe delivers warm gooey cinnamon roll goodness in just over 30 minutes! Can't beat that!

Quick Maple Rolls

4 and 1/2 to 5 cups flour, divided
1/2 box of white cake mix (about 1 and 1/2 cups)
4 and 1/2 teaspoon quick rise yeast
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 cups warm water (about 110-120 degrees)
1/2 teaspoon maple flavoring
Butter or margarine
1 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon

Maple Frosting

1 and 1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon milk
1/2 teaspoon maple flavoring

In a large mixing bowl or the bowl of your stand mixer add 3 cups flour, cake mix, yeast, salt and sugar. Mix.

Add the warm water and the maple flavoring and mix until smooth.

Add 1 and 1/2 to 2 cups more flour until it forms a soft dough. Knead until smooth and not too sticky to handle.

Roll out into a 9x18 in rectangle.

Generously add soft butter or margarine all over the top of the dough.

Mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle it all over the top of the dough.

Roll up and cut into about 1 and 1/2 in slices. Cover and rise while your oven preheats. About 15 minutes.

Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes. (Mine were still gooey at 15 minutes)

While baking whip up the maple frosting. Mix the powdered sugar, milk and maple flavor together until smooth and thin enough to spread easily.

Pour over the hot cinnamon rolls and devour. :)

If you make these, let me know what you think!

Have a great week!
